Related Scriptures

This scripture always reminds me of how Christ sent his Seventies and Apostles out. They were not prepared in the way you might expect a servant of the Lord or a messenger of the Messiah to be prepared. Luke 22:35 says he send them without purse or scrip or sandals and yet they didn't lack.

Thoughts about this scripture:

And I am often amazed that some of the more powerful witnesses of the Love of Christ come from people with the least amount of preparation. When I try to go unprepared, I just look it. But when I read and study my scriptures, as a normal course of my day and week, when I am called on suddenly to teach or minister, I am always prepared even when there is no time to prepare.

The Lord doesn't have any problem helping us when we are doing our part. But he won't do everything for us. So if we are lazy in our study and our prayers we will find the we are ineffective when we try to do his work.

How does this strengthen my testimony

There have been many times in my life when the promise "it shall be given you in the very hour" was manifested to me while I served as a missionary and since. I know that the Lord can take my simple and inadequate efforts and turn them into something wonderful. Being a small part of his miracle fills me with peace. Helps me both be humble, and to realize that I am worth enough to the Lord for him to help me succeed.

I know that God loves each of us and as we follow him, and obey his words, he will help us to bridge the gap or our own abilities and return to him. And form time to time, we will be allowed to help others on their paths as well.
